And while it is true SquareSoft doesn’t exist anymore and it’s now SquareEnix is here, the fact that Mana, a SquareSoft game still gets mentions, And true because more people played that and knew about it. At the time I didn’t own a Super Nintendo, but years later after scouring several different game stores, finally found a copy of Secret of Evermore, even finding a game guide I would later order online from Borders Bookstore.

The first time I ever experienced Evermore, I was visiting a Best Buy back when they had multiple game stations to play games at while people shopped around, and I watched a young boy chase after his dog into a huge mansion, then with a huge explosion end up on a space station. When I was younger, I loved imagining myself as the hero, traveling with a dog (I have never had a dog sadly, but sometimes I’d look at the toaster and imagine it hovering like the robo dog did 😅), casting magic and exploring ancient ruins and fighting monsters. When talking about the music, I remember Jeremy Soule saying he wanted Evermore’s music to be atmospheric. First time listening to a game podcast and I love the discussion.
